Pico-Union Neighborhood Cleanup!

Join the Byzantine Latino Quarter–Pico BID and St. Thomas the Apostle School for a morning dedicated to caring for our neighborhood and the small businesses that make Pico Blvd. feel like home!

Our corridor is full of history, culture, and incredible local shops. Keeping it clean helps our businesses thrive, keeps our walkways welcoming, and strengthens the sense of pride we all share in this community. Whether you're a resident, student, business owner, or a neighbor who simply loves your neighborhood, your hands and heart make a real difference.

We’ll provide all the cleaning supplies, while you bring the energy, good vibes, and maybe even a friend! The cleanup route will be shared in January, and all volunteers will be entered into a $50 gift card raffle as a thank-you for showing up.

The Byzantine Latino Quarter–Pico Business Improvement District (BLQ BID) is proud to announce our upcoming 2025 Board Elections, which will take place at our final public meeting of the year:

  • Wednesday, December 10, 2025

  • 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

  • Las 7 Regiones de Oaxaca – 2658 W. Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90006

This is a crucial opportunity for our stakeholders to shape the leadership and future direction of the BID, and ensure our district continues to thrive for years to come.

Honoring Our Current President

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Sam Luster, our current Board President, for his outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to the BLQ community. Sam’s years of service have helped elevate the BID’s mission, and we are deeply grateful for his dedication.

Positions Open for Election

  • President

  • Vice President

  • Secretary

These roles are central to how the BLQ BID functions: directing funding, setting priorities, and shaping the programs that serve our local businesses and property owners.

Who Can Run?

Any individual who represents a business or property within the BLQ-Pico BID boundaries is eligible to run for an officer position. You must be present at the December 10 meeting in order to be nominated and participate in the election.

How the Election Will Work

This meeting will be held in a public, open forum where all stakeholders are invited to attend, participate, and offer public comment.

During the meeting:

  • Eligible stakeholders can nominate themselves or others.

  • Nominees will be invited to share a brief statement about their experience and vision.

  • Anonymous votes will be cast by eligible stakeholders and current board members in attendance.

  • The results will determine our 2025 Board President, Vice President, and Secretary.

Why This Matters

The BLQ BID Board is responsible for implementing the Management District Plan, which includes:

  • Beautification projects

  • Small business support

  • Community safety initiatives

  • Long-term economic development

  • Having a strong and representative board ensures our work reflects the needs and goals of the community.

The Byzantine Latino Quarter-Pico Business Improvement District invites community members, stakeholders, and local business owners to our upcoming Board Meeting on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the St. Sophia Huffington Events Center. This special session will feature a presentation and live Q&A with the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) regarding the Vision Zero Pico Corridor Project—an initiative aimed at enhancing traffic safety, accessibility, and pedestrian infrastructure along Pico Boulevard.

Don't miss this vital opportunity to learn how these proposed street improvements will impact our neighborhood and shape the future of mobility in the BLQ-Pico corridor.
